“A lifelong hobby becomes a lifeline for an unexpected Twitch streamer”
6 min · United States
Adele Tiffith has been doing jigsaw puzzles for as long as she can remember, first alongside her mother and eight siblings, then with her own children, then her grandchildren. When the house finally emptied and the little puzzlers were all grown and gone, the hobby that had always been shared became something she did alone, all day and every day, and the quiet tipped into depression. Then her kids set her up with a Twitch account so she could watch her son compete in a gaming tournament, and a grandmother who had never heard of the platform found herself chatting to strangers under the name “I just love puzzles”. Emily Sheskin’s warm six-minute documentary follows Adele as those strangers talk her into going live with her own stream, and hundreds, then thousands, of people show up to watch a senior citizen calmly assemble two thousand pieces. GrandmaPuzzles grows into a community sixteen thousand strong, and Adele is open about what it gave back: purpose, self-worth, and people who, as she says, pieced her back together.
