Short films sharpened to a point

Satirical short films feel like a smile with a blade behind it. The laughter is real, but it is aimed, taking apart hustle culture, performative virtue and the small hypocrisies we all rehearse. Where a comedy just wants to delight you, satire wants you to recognise the target, and then to recognise yourself in it.

Topical Cream has a fake-woke millennial falling in love with a talking bottle of moisturiser, and Thank You So Much turns the nightly clap for carers into an awkward standoff with the nurse next door. Whore #4 skewers the casting machine through an actor sick of stereotype, Sarah Chong Is Going to Kill Herself follows a mistreated receptionist taking matters into her own hands, and The Core of Monkos Anthology goes dark, stupid and gloriously surreal.
