The Ferberizing of Coral

“New parents are haunted by the voices from their baby monitor”
10 min · United States
Synopsis

Caitlin and Kevin are ten minutes into a sleep-training interval, and their daughter Coral is screaming on the other side of the door. The book is clear: you wait out the full ten minutes, you do not go in, and the baby learns to settle herself. Caitlin is counting down the seconds. Kevin is not coping.

Then the baby monitor answers them back.

Patrick Flynn’s eleven-minute comedy takes the most ordinary standoff in new parenthood and turns it into an ambush by every voice that ever made a parent doubt themselves. Very funny, and quietly serious about how little anyone raising a child has ever really known.
