Short films that breed a low, crawling dread

Scary short films feel like a cold draught from a door you were sure you had shut. This is the mood of fear itself, of the thing in the dark room and the wrongness under the skin, where the goal is not tension but pure unease that lingers after the screen goes black. They are short, which only makes the scares land harder.

Negatives captures a monster in a photographer's dark room, and Retch watches a young woman's illness turn her into something unexpected. What's in the Forest blurs reality with psychedelics as unseen horrors close in, Bad Penny haunts an antiques dealer with a cursed object, and The Relic hands its adventurers the worst discovery they can imagine. A small, nasty handful, free to stream and best watched with the lights low.
