Curator’s note

Comedy is tragedy that kept the receipts.

Dark comedy is the hardest register in short film. Go one degree too far and it’s cruelty; one degree too soft and it’s a sitcom. The six films in this hour stay exactly on the line.

They were chosen for their nerve, for treating awkwardness, failure and the occasional cursed object as things worth looking at directly. You will laugh. You may feel slightly guilty about it. That’s the genre working as intended.

Frequently asked

How dark is “dark”?

Sharp rather than bleak. Expect discomfort and gallows humour, not gratuitous shock. Every film here earns its edge.

How long is the whole collection?

Almost exactly one hour across six films. Hence the name.

Are these films free to watch?

Yes. Klipist is free to watch, with no signup required for most films.
