Adventure is a genre about distance covered, which makes it a strange fit for the short form and exactly why the good ones are so satisfying. A short adventure film has to make you feel a long way travelled in a handful of minutes. When it works, the scale arrives anyway, smuggled in through momentum and a destination you actually want to reach.
The films here chase that scale in wildly different registers. The Relic sends adventurers toward the worst discovery they could possibly imagine. The Leap Beneath shrinks the quest down to a single springtail surviving beneath the forest floor, and proves epic is a matter of stakes, not size. Darkside follows an astronaut hunting a lost crew across an interstellar mission, while Road Rage! strands a man late for a Cardiff interview inside a time loop, and The Tides That Bind traces a real man tracking down the senders of messages he found in bottles.
Big or small, every one of these goes somewhere. Press play and let them take you, no account needed.
